LPGA Rookie Blog

Lacey, recently wrote a blog for LPGA.com. Below is the blog text and here is the link to the original blog post: http://www.lpga.com/golf/blogs/2012/4/lacey-agnew-rookie-blog-one.aspx

I am Lacey Agnew, I am from a suburb just south of Atlanta, Georgia. I was born and raised in Jonesboro and still reside there today. I started golfing around 12 because one of my dad's good friends was a top teacher in the country and wanted me to get some lessons from him and give it a try. I played almost every sport growing up basketball, baseball, tennis, softball, soccer, volleyball, and of course golf. Basketball was my love growing up and started playing at three and play all four years on my varsity team.
Since I didn't start golf until a little later than most, I had to learn everything very quickly and first hand. After helping my team to three state titles I was offered a scholarship to Florida State University, I willingly accepted and was excited to give golf 100% and see what happens. I had a bit of a slow start to my college career but had a great senior season, I tied a school record and had five top-10s.
I played two years on the Symetra Tour as well as played on the Women's Canadian Tour. My best finish was fifth at a Canadian Tour event and a top-20 at a Symetra Tour event in Georgia.
This year was my first time to try and qualify for the LPGA Tour. After having a solid week at Stage II, I was really excited to see how Final Stage was going to be. I was a little nervous but more excited. After four good days I made the cut for the final day. After the final round I was tied for 20th place. I went into a three-hole playoff with nine other girls for one spot. I pared the first two holes and eagled my last hole to put me at two-under for the playoff. Someone ended up birding all three holes so I was beat by one. Although I did not get full status, I learned a lot from that experience and it showed me I could perform when everything was on the line.
In the off season, which for golfers is probably more of the "on-season," I have been working really hard to sharpen the weaknesses in my game. I spent a month in south Florida playing and practicing with friends to get ready for the season.
I recently went to Arizona for a Monday qualifier for the RR Donelley LPGA Founders Cup where I played well but did not get in. I also went to San Diego for the Kia Classic to Monday qualify and also missed getting in.
I will also be playing a full Symetra Tour schedule and when the opportunity comes for me to play in an LPGA event I will be ready.
